We all have our mood boosters. For some it’s a morning routine started with a cup of coffee or hearty breakfast. For others it could be getting to work without hitting traffic. For me, my positive demeanor can often be tied to whether or not I’m having a good hair day. I can always count on being perky and successful throughout the day when I tend to get things right with my hair and experience a great hair day.
For me, the journey to achieving great hair days has included a lot of trial and error. I’m not an extreme experimenter but once I determine my hair is either no longer responding to a product I go out searching for what would give me the results I truly desire in the most minimalistic way possible.
Although my hair is natural, I’m far from the level that some naturals go. I like to keep my wash day routine and styling simple and anxious free. Rather than accumulating products I may not actually use, I make sure all products fit into a category of what I believe my hair needs most and when I’ve noticed it best and regularly performed. Cleansing, Treatments and Styling and accessories.
CLEANSE, CLAIRFY, CONDITION
A good cleanser and conditioner goes along way. I switch my products out pretty often so that my hair doesn’t get the option to ‘get use to the ingredients’. In my mind this works and we will stick to it. Currently, I’m using the hydrating line from Moroccanoil. The formula itself is rich in antioxidants, argan oil and replenishing nutrients which is perfect and does a good job at delivering the moisture to my typically dry strands. Whether you have fine hair or thick and coarse, Moroccanoil has a product tailored just for your needs.
TREATMENTS
Protein deep conditioners are a must have for my often in protective style tresses. Whenever I’m in between a style, I either give myself a protein treatment or make an appointment for my regular trim and include this along with steam treatment. I’ve linked my go to at home options below:
STYLING TOOLS
I stick to the basics. Earlier this year I added a wand to my lineup of styling tools and to my surprise and after a few burned fingers, I really liked the wave patter it gave my hair. Other than this new tool I have yet to try the T3 series but have been contemplating adding the curling iron to the rest of the gang. If anyone has performance feedback on this please share!
HAIR ACCESSORIES
Silk turbans, wraps and hats are in constant rotation over here especially when I’m not required to make an effort to do my hair. Avoiding breakage, still maintaining the health of my hair even with the addition of an accessory. Grace Eleyae is a brand with this need in mind and also has great options for any occassion. Pillowcases, beanies and even fedoras.
