If it isn’t already obvious, we’re less than 3 months from the closing of the year and as much as I’m prepared to turn a new page to have a fresh start considering this year’s experiences, there is still lots of opportunity left in reach and even more to reflect on.
This year, I challenged myself in many ways, establishing a new hobby and business, studying and learning strategy to grow this new venture and forming new relationships despite the state of the world. There was a whole new meaning this year to the phrase “Rolling with the Punches” and adjusting to a new way of life, working from home, not having the same privileges I once did and while drastically uncomfortable at times, provided new perspectives and rebirth.
If this year has taught me anything, its that nothing in life should be feared. We now know we’re capable of embracing change and adapting the unexpected situations. As we make the most of the rest of the year I wanted to leave you with a few things to keep in mind:
A Change in Perspective is Good
This year has changed my perspective on what success and true failure looks like and how impactful it can be both negatively and positively for us as individuals. Its funny to think that failure once held a different meaning to me. A lot of my perceptions of success have changed and the feeling of needing to be rushed to meet goals with unrealistic deadlines, I realized serve no purpose. Despite the timing, everything that I’ve manifested thus far and affirmed have been fulfilled. Its just a matter of time before the next manifestation appears, so theres no sense in worrying over what can’t be controlled, instead I’m focused on strengthening the processes I’ve created to drive my business where I’d like to see it go, and also ensure I’m doing my part by giving 110%!
Commit to Yourself & Your Goals
Goals and dreams are great to have, but without taking action, those plans remain thoughts and never see fruition. As a perfectionist, I’ve seen how the conveniences of waiting for the right time or waiting on the perfect resources can set me back much further than I could have been had I started and made adjustments based on my learnings along the way. When you commit to your goals, commit wholeheartedly and be open to not getting it right the first time, or not getting it perfect. If you fail or fall short change your perception and use it as a tool. Failure is just as if not more important than success. If you’re not failing you’re not learning or growing.
Appreciate Moments of Solitude
I’ve appreciated the time I’ve had with myself, not feeling pressured to socialize, enjoying my space and being able to reflect on all of the good God has blessed me with. Who knew being present was such a struggle before this year. Its been an experience thats shown me I shouldn’t wait for a worldwide pandemic to make time for me or appreciate the time when I do have the luxury. I’ve relished in the amount of “me time” I may not be so fortunate of having again, the clarity I’ve gotten from time spent alone. I can honestly say I’ve gotten to know ME.
Have Faith In Your Faith
Having faith isn’t easy. As someone who believes in the power of faith, just based on the fact of living life, its still a challenge to find optimism in some of the hardest moments, but its important to distinguish between the temporary struggles and those that might be permanent. Again, focus on the things you can control rather than the outcomes that aren’t in your power to confirm.
With Intentionality Comes Growth
With a plan and a motive, I’m able to conquer whatever it is I set your mind to. Scheduling has been a big part of helping me remain on task and accountable this year. With both work and personal goals, I finally feel like I have a routine that can take things to the next level. It was difficult to implement at first, and theres always opportunity for excuses but submitting to the excuses won’t help to attain the lifestyle I’m pursuing.
